School Supplies Needed

The school is in need of school supplies on an ongoing basis as new students arrive or families come that are staying at the Family Center. Often times these students do not come with school supplies. The school also collects backpacks.

Keep Kids Warm Event

Winter gear items are collected during October and distributed at the end of November to families. Items most needed: Winter coats, snow pants, boots and warm snow gloves. We also accept hats, scarves and mittens. Items can be new or gently used. Garage sales are a great way to pick up these items in the off season putting them away until they can be donated.

Rapids Family Backpack Program

This program provides weekend meals in a back-pack for families who may be facing a financial hardship. Backpacks include a recipe and all of the items necessary to create that meal, along with a breakfast item and other “meal stretchers”. Families are able to access backpack meals on Fridays and backpacks are returned to school empty the next week. This program is free and confidential and there are several families on a waiting list due to lack of funds. The cost of food for a backpack is just under $10.00 per week or $380.00 for one school year and eight backpacks from Washington school go out each Friday.

Items can be brought to the school and left at the door of School Counselor Kayla McLean.
